About Us

Hi I’m Alex,

The founder of POCKETLOCKER.

The story of POCKETLOCKER first began in May of 2022.

I had just quit my job and was about to go on an extended holiday to experience a European summer for the first time.

I was super excited. I had many conversations with family and friends about what to do there, what to expect and more. However, there was always one topic that constantly came up - pickpocketing.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this problem and I quickly became obsessed with it.

An early concept for POCKETLOCKER - solving the problem in a different way

Fast forward a few months later and we had arrived in Europe. We were having a great time, but to say I thought less about pickpocketing would be a lie. I thought about it more.

I was a young guy in a foreign land with little money and I simply couldn't afford to lose my things.

By this point I had heard 101 stories about people having their bags stolen, crossbody bags slashed or cut off and  passports stolen from the hotel room.

I knew the market needed something new and better, but I didn’t know what that was yet.

We spent a lot of time out and about around large crowds, which had me clutching at my pockets constantly.

About 2 weeks into the trip is when the original idea for pocketlocker came to me. I knew that the solution to valuable security wasn’t to create another external thing (bag, handbag, etc)

It was to upgrade the pockets you already had.

Starting out - making them on my Mum's sewing machine.

I worked through some extravagant solutions to this problem, and it ultimately took me 2 years to come up with what you see today.

To say the research and development process was long and arduous would be an insane understatement. I wanted to give up no less than 100 times, but I stuck with it anyway, ultimately, having worked thorough at least 30 prototypes.

The POCKETLOCKER that you see today is the culmination of over 15,000 hours of development over 2 years.

It was far from easy but to see how our customers respond to it and how it genuinely improves their lives makes it all worth it.

And we hope that it improves your life too.
